East and southeast front doors should be green, brown, and wood. Water creates wood so the colors produced are blue, turquoise, black, and purple – all values, from pastels to rich and dark will work on these doors.

For west and north doors, you should choose metallic colors such as gold, silver, copper, bronze, iron (including rust), tin – all things metallic – plus gray and white. Earth is a productive element, so add clay, yellow, terracotta, bees, or any earth color.
Note the colors to limit the use
There are no bad colors in feng shui, however, you should also note a few colors that should be limited in choice because they do not bring good luck according to our ancestors’ concept. Specifically:
- Dark blue or black represents evil spirits, bad luck, and ghosts.
- Red in feng shui represents great evil. In addition, it is a hot color that easily makes people’s tempers hot, difficult to control emotions and behaviors, making it easy for families to have conflicts and discord.
- Earth yellow is the color of the Five Elements star according to the theory of Yin and Yang and the Five Elements. This star symbolizes murderous energy, bad news, and bad omens, so avoid painting the main door yellow.
- Brown is considered a symbol of death energy and gloom. Accordingly, if you use this color for the main door, it means you are letting death energy enter the house, causing your health to decline.
