1. Strictly manage fire and heat sources: When cooking, burning incense, lighting candles, burning votive paper…, using heating devices, repairing, constructing, welding, and cutting… (causing fire and heat sources), there must be someone watching;

2. Arrangement of incense burning and worshiping places must ensure fire safety such as:

  • Incense bowls must be placed on non-flammable or difficult-to-burn equipment.
  • Flammable incense items (such as votive paper) must be kept away from the incense bowl.
  • When burning incense, there must be someone watching until the incense ash is gone.

3. Burning votive paper must be in the right place:

  • Do not burn votive paper in houses, hallways, business and service stores, on sidewalks on streets, or places with large crowds of people and vehicles passing by.
  • Before burning votive paper, you must choose a place sheltered from the wind, or use an incense burner, with measures to prevent the wind from blowing the embers to surrounding areas and causing a fire (use incense burners or tops made of non-flammable materials to burn votive paper and place them at least 2m away from flammable goods).
  • When burning votive paper, someone must watch until there are no more embers, and arrange a fire extinguisher or bucket of water.
  • After burning, let it cool completely before pouring out the ashes.
