An apartment on the 22nd floor of the Gemek 2 apartment building (Hoai Duc, Hanoi) caught fire, spreading to an apartment on the 24th floor, causing many residents to run away in panic.
According to residents of the Gemek 2 building, at around 10:45 p.m. on February 28, a fire broke out in an apartment on the 22nd floor. The fire spread quickly, accompanied by black smoke blown up by the wind. When the fire was discovered, many residents in the building panicked and ran down to the 1st floor.
At the time of the fire, the balcony outside the apartment contained a lot of clothes, the fire was burning strongly, combined with the wind blowing in from outside, so the fire spread to the apartment on the 24th floor.
Immediately after receiving the fire alarm, the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police force was present at the scene.
Because the fire was on a high floor, the fire force had to approach by stairs, and by about 23:30 the fire was completely extinguished. According to initial statistics, the fire did not cause any human casualties, some furniture in the two apartments was burned.
Currently, the authorities are investigating and clarifying the cause.
