Regulations on fire doors
In section 5.2 TCVN 6160:1996, the minimum fire resistance limit of fire-resistant components is specified as follows:
- Windows and gates in fire-resistant walls must be made of non-combustible materials and have a fire resistance limit of not less than 45 minutes.
- Fire-resistant walls must be made of non-combustible materials and have a fire resistance limit of not less than 45 minutes.
- Doors and windows in fire-resistant walls; fire-resistant doors to basements and roofs; doors to roofs must be made of non-combustible materials and have a fire resistance limit of not less than 40 minutes.
- Doors in stairwells, technical rooms, and basements must also be fire-resistant doors. They must have an automatic closing mechanism and be able to withstand fire for 45 minutes or more.
- Also according to regulations, fireproof doors that reach the 60-minute fire resistance limit have a structure that is not destroyed when subjected to temperatures of about 1,000 degrees Celsius. The temperature will gradually increase and reach a maximum threshold of about 1,000 degrees Celsius within 60 minutes. Meanwhile, the door surface that is not in direct contact with fire must not exceed the threshold of 220 degrees Celsius.
General safety requirements of fireproof steel doors
The type of fireproof door must meet the basic requirements, regardless of the level of heat resistance and fire resistance for how long, must be based on the following general requirements:
- The door uses cold-rolled steel 0.8mm – 1.2mm, and the thickness of the door is 50mm – 70mm
- The frame uses hot-rolled steel 1.6mm thick. Frame thickness is 100mm – 110mm
- The door core uses magnesium oxide fireproof material (refer to the article What is Magnesium Oxide Fireproof Door Core Material?)
- The rubber gasket prevents smoke when the door is closed, it will be tight and smooth.
- The hydraulic arm helps the door to always be closed
- If any of the above factors are missing, the door will not meet fireproof standards or will not ensure safety in construction design.
