What are the standards for testing the quality of fire doors? What standards does NOVODOOR use for fire doors? Find out in this article!
Standards for fire door materials
Materials used in fire doors are materials that can withstand fire at high temperatures, thereby effectively preventing the spread of fire.
Each type of fire door has its requirements for the use of specific fireproof materials:
- Windows, doors, and fire partitions in rooms must be made of fireproof materials with a fire resistance time of over 45 minutes.
- Windows, doors, and fire partitions leading to the roof or basement must be made of fireproof door standard materials, which can withstand fire for about 40 minutes.
- For apartments and high-rise buildings, technical room doors, emergency exit stairs, and basement doors must also be made of fireproof materials. In addition, it is necessary to ensure that there is an automatic closing mechanism and that it can withstand fire for about 45 minutes.
Standard size and thickness of fire doors
- The standard size of fire doors is from 800 – 1200mm wide and from 1800 – 3000mm high.
- Fire doors must have thick steel wings with the following thicknesses: 0.8mm; 1.0mm; 1.2mm; 1.5mm or 2.0mm.
- The thickness of steel fire doors must be between 40 – 50mm.
Other standards
-
Standard glass panels for fireproof doors must use fireproof tempered glass and have good heat-resistant steel mesh. Normally, this glass panel will have a minimum size of 200 x 400mm.
- The core of the fireproof door must have insulation made from rock wool (fireproof cotton) or honeycomb paper and reinforced with steel bones.
- Use electrostatic paint, wood grain paint, or oil paint to paint a layer on the door to increase fire resistance.
- The stainless steel hinge of the door must use a clamp, pillar, and leaf design made of stainless steel Sill.
- Accessories of fireproof doors cannot lack hydraulic push handles and lever locks.
- Finally, fireproof doors must have a rubber gasket system surrounding them to prevent smoke from entering.
Currently, NOVODOOR is using fireproof door standards and regulations including: QCVN 16:2014/BXD; QCVN 06:2020/BXD; TCVN 9383:2012; TCVN 6160:1996.
Standard QCVN 16:2014/BXD
This standard stipulates the technical requirements that must be complied with for construction material products and goods produced domestically, imported, and circulated in the Vietnamese market.
Applicable products include:
- Organizations and individuals producing and importing construction material products and goods.
- State management agencies on the quality of related products and goods.
- Organizations are designated to assess the conformity of construction material products and goods.
Standard QCVN 06:2020/BXD
This standard stipulates general requirements on fire safety for rooms, houses, and construction works (hereinafter referred to as houses) and is mandatory to apply in all stages of new construction, renovation, repair, or change of function, and also stipulates technical classification of fire for houses, parts, and components of houses, rooms, construction components, and construction materials.
Standard TCVN 9383:2012
TCVN 9383:2012 was compiled by the Institute of Construction Science and Technology – Ministry of Construction, proposed by the Ministry of Construction, appraised by the General Department of Standards, Metrology, and Quality, and promulgated by the Ministry of Science and Technology. This standard describes the test method for determining the fire resistance of doors such as doors, shutters, windows, etc. designed to be installed in doorways located in vertical partitions requiring fire resistance.
Standard TCVN 6160:1996
This standard specifies the basic requirements for fire prevention and fighting when designing new construction, renovation, and expansion of high-rise buildings and civil works. See more at Vietnam Standard TCVN6160:1996
